Welcome to English Geeks @ CC
Hi!
In this course we will be using blogs to have (very) educated discussions about different topics related to our IB A2 English class. First of all, you need to create your own blog. If you have one already, you still need to create a different one specific for this class.
Your blog will be used for several activities throughout the semester.
The journals for every partial will be turned in using your blogs. I will leave an announcement in Blackboard with the link to the blog entry with the directions for the activity. So, just to be sure to bookmark this blog's address: http://englisha2cumbres.blogspot.com/
But before we delve into what we are going to do with our blogs, you need to create one. And, it's very easy.
First, go to http://www.blogger.com/
Click on "Create a Blog"
You need either a hotmail or gmail account.
Follow the directions and in no time you will have a blog.
There are some basic rules we will all have to follow:
a) Your blog is a space that should be used only for academic purposes (stuff related to the class). That means that any images you use in your profiles, videos, information and so on, have to be "safe for school". That means no foul language or inappropriate images.
b) Because of the delicate situation our country is facing, we have to think of our safety. Do not include in your profile any personal information beyond what you are being asked to give. Your first name and last name is enough.
c) Some activities may involve discussions among yourselves using the comment section of your blog. That being said, discussions should be kept clean (language-wise) and ordered. Every participation will be evaluated.
d) Your blog represents who you are, and affects how other people see you. You are also my student and, in a way, you are representing me and your school. Please make us proud.
e) Last, but not least, instructions should be followed closely if we want this blogging discussions to be successful.
Now, this is important:
-Once you create your blog, set the language to be in English (go to configuración, formato, lenguaje, and set it to English).
-Then, come back to my blog (http://englisha2cumbres.blogspot.com/), and click on the "Follow" button on the right side of the page, and leave a comment on this post with your name and the URL of YOUR blog.
Please have your blog ready by Friday, August 20.
That's it for now. See you in the blogsphere.
